After helping the Soaring Eagles pick up a pair of wins against nationally ranked opponents, Brian Depp'16 of the Elmira College men's ice hockey team has earned a spot on the National Team of the Week.
Depp scored three goals over the weekend to help Elmira defeat sixth-ranked Amherst College and third-ranked Babson College at the Murray Athletic Center Ice Arena. He scored twice against the Lord Jeffs on Saturday, including the game-winning goal in a 6-3 victory. Depp followed that performance up with another goal, this one scored late in the first period, in Elmira's 5-3 upset win over Babson.
The Fenton, MI, native has without a doubt been one of Elmira's most consistent performers through the early stages of the 2015-16 season. He has registered at least one point in each of Elmira's first eight games this year, the second-longest consecutive point streak of his collegiate career. Depp has totaled 10 points this season, which already matches his season total from a year ago, on six goals and four helpers.
Elmira will be back in action next Tuesday, December 8th, when the Soaring Eagles welcome SUNY Potsdam for a non-conference bout. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Murray Athletic Center Ice Arena in Pine Valley, NY.
