Writing Lecturer

Position Summary:

The Academic Writing Program at Elmira College invites applications for the position of Writing Lecturer for the 2019-2020 academic year. The main responsibility of the Writing Lecturer is teaching three sections of College Composition I in the Fall term and three sections of College Composition II in the Winter term. Writing Lecturers are also expected to participate actively in program assessment and development. The position is full time with the option of annual renewal. Compensation is competitive and includes optional insurance benefits.

Qualifications:

Candidates must possess an M.A. or Ph.D. in a field appropriate to the position. Candidates should have an interest in and have experience teaching introductory college composition and rhetoric that seeks to improve students’ writing and thinking processes. The selection process will place a strong emphasis on teaching experience and clear evidence of teaching excellence. Additionally, candidates should have an interest in promoting the interests of the Academic Writing Program and the retention efforts of Elmira College.
