Campus Security

Elmira College is located in a small town setting, away from many
of the security concerns associated with a big city. However, it is
necessary to provide for a safe campus and enable the college
community to enjoy the college’s resources and support
its achievements. To enable this, the college provides
professional, trained officers and student escorts.
The Director of Campus Security, who is available 24-7, is
assisted by five full-time and three part-time certified security
officers. The department is a non-deputized, unarmed service
available to all members of the college community. The motto set
forth by the Director of Campus Security is "preserve, protect, and
defend" students, administrators, faculty and staff throughout the
year.
Campus Security personnel are available at all times in the
event of an emergency or for assistance, including at night for an
escort between campus buildings.
In addition, the Security Department offers several campus
safety programs such as Operation I.D., Operation Key Tag, and
Operation Campus Watch. These programs are free and are designed to
protect the student and their property.
