Student to Present at Sociology Conference

Cheryl Garber ’13 will be presenting her original research project at the Eastern Sociological Society conference in Boston on March 22. Her paper is titled “How Have Movies in the Last 30 Years Influenced the Practice of Bullying in High School?” Using content analysis of important films from several decades, Cheryl traces how representations of the concept of bullying have evolved over time. Cheryl completed her research in the Qualitative Methods in the Social Science class taught by Dr. Martha Easton, Assistant Professor of Sociology. Cheryl is from Staten Island, NY, and is a double major in Sociology/Anthropology and Educational Studies. After she graduates, she plans to work in non-profit management or human resources.
