The Gannett-Tripp Library has been awarded a grant through the Conservation Preservation Program of the New York State Library that will allow protective boxes to be made for 52 of the most valuable and fragile volumes in the Mark Twain collection. This will help prolong the useful life of these rare items, most of which contain Twain’s hand written comments in the margins, representing his response as a reader to a wide range of writers and subjects.
