Rhonda Faunce is entering her 22nd season as
the Head Volleyball Coach at Elmira College. During her
tenure with the team, Faunce coached the Soaring Eagles to three
NCAA tournament appearances, an ECAC Championship, an Empire 8
Championship and eleven New York State Women’s
Collegiate Association (NYSWCAA) tournament invitations.
In 2000, Faunce earned the Empire 8 Coach of the Year,
as well as American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Northeast
Region Co-Coach of the Year honors. That same season she was
presented the prestigious NYSWCAA Service Award, given for
outstanding contributions to New York State Women’s
Intercollegiate Athletics.
In 2006, Faunce claimed her 400th win for the Purple and Gold.
After a 16-10effort in 2008, she stands at 433 career
victories – ranking her 22nd on the NCAA
Division III all-time list. In 2008, Faunce
guided the Soaring Eagles to a birth in the ECAC Tournament.
Under Coach Faunce’s watch six players have earned AVCA
Regional All-America honors. In addition, two Soaring Eagles have
been named Academic All-Americans, and two were named NYSWCAA
scholar-athletes.
A native of Great Bend, New York, Faunce earned a
bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from Ithaca
College in 1985. Two years later she received a
master’s degree from Ithaca in Teaching Behaviors and
Sport Psychology. As an undergraduate, Faunce was twice named an
Honorable Mention All-American in volleyball, while guiding the
Bombers to two New York State championships and two NCAA
appearances.
In addition to her volleyball duties at Elmira College, Faunce is
the Head Softball Coach, Director of Physical Education, and
Coordinator of the Locke Pool.
Softball

achievements includes two ECAC tournament appearances, three Empire

In 2003, Faunce achieved a milestone, earning her 200th win at
Elmira College . A 16-11 record in 2009 moved Faunce to 246 career
victories. She currently holds the
program’s all-time record for victories.
During her tenure, six players have earned All-Conference honors.
She also had several All-State selections, a NYSWCAA
scholar-athlete, and an Academic All-American.

Hali Skaggs enters her first year at Elmira College as the
Assistant Women’s Softball Coach and Head Junior
Varsity Women’s Softball Coach.
Skaggs is a 2007 graduate of Blackburn College in Carlinville,
Illinois. During her time at Blackburn, Skaggs was a three sport
athlete participating in Volleyball, Softball, and Tennis. She was
the starting center-left fielder and was awarded the best defensive
percentage award in her 2005 season. Along with her softball honors
Skaggs was a three year starting volleyball setter and played
fourth singles for her tennis team.
From 2004-2007 Skaggs was named to the Dean’s List. She
was also named to the Who’s Who Among Students in
American Universities and Colleges. In addition, she was awarded
Departmental Honors for her excellent GPA. As a student athlete she
was awarded Academic All-Conference for Volleyball
(’04-’07), Softball (’05), and
Tennis (’06-’07). Skaggs graduated Summa
Cum Laude with a B.A. of Arts in Professional Communications and a
Minor in Coaching & Physical Education.
After college, Skaggs worked as an Admissions Counselor at
Blackburn College where she focused as an Athletic Recruit
Coordinator.
Skaggs will be pursuing a Master’s Degree at Elmira
College
