Now entering his thirty-second season at Elmira College,
Women’s Tennis Coach Phil Levkanich came to Elmira
after graduating from nearby Mansfield University. While at
Mansfield, he participated on the tennis team, earning the top
singles and doubles position. In his first season playing for
the Mountaineers, the
team finished with a 10-0 record.
In his second season, the team finished 10-1
and received a berth in the National Athletic
Interscholastic Association (NAIA) national championships held in
Kansas City, Missouri.
During his tenure at Elmira College, Levkanich has worked to
build a strong women’s tennis program. The
2008 campaign was headline by two 9-0 victories over Utica College
and Keuka College as well as trip to the NYSWCAA State
Tournament.
In addition, Levkanich is a member of the United States
Professional Tennis Association. Aside from coaching the
women’s team, Levkanich is also the Men’s
Tennis Coach, and is the Murray Athletic Center Facilities
Manager.
Men's Tennis
Men’s Tennis Coach Phil Levkanich is entering his
thirty-second season at Elmira College, after graduating from
nearby Mansfield University. While at Mansfield, he participated on
the men’s tennis team, earning the position as the
squad’s top singles and doubles player. In his first
season playing for the Mountaineers, the
team finished with a 10-0 record.
In his second season, the team finished 10-1

During his tenure at Elmira College, Levkanich has worked to
build a competitive men’s tennis program.
In addition to coaching the men’s team, Levkanich
serves as the Women’s Tennis Coach and Murray Athletic
Center Facilities Manager. He is also a member of the United States
Professional Tennis Association (USTA).
Tom Linhart enters his second year at Elmira College as the
Assistant Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach.
Linhart, graduated from St John Fisher College in 2006, was a four
year letter winner and all Empire 8 All Conference selection. In
his time at St John Fisher, Linhart helped lead the team to their
two best seasons in school history. On top of his athletic
accomplishments, Linhart earned his B.S. in Childhood and Special
Education.
In 2006 he was named Varsity Girls and JV Boys Tennis Coach at
Spencerport High School and was honored as Monroe County Coach of
the Year for Girls Tennis. In addition to his time at Spencerport,
Linhart has worked at Manhattan Square Tennis Club in Rochester,
NY, where he worked with and helped develop many of the areas top
players. Linhart is also a
member of the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR).
Linhart is pursuing a master’s degree in Education. His
other responsibilities include work in the Office of Sports
Information.
