Preston Chapman enters his seventh season
with the Purple and Gold after returning to EC in 2005.
In his first stint with the Soaring Eagles, Chapman posted a 38-67
record, and currently ranks first on the Elmira College
Men’s Lacrosse all-time wins list.
Chapman, a 1989 graduate of Alfred University, coached at Elmira
College from 1991-98, and was responsible for making the Soaring
Eagles one of the most competitive Division III teams in Upstate
New York. Twice during his tenure at Elmira College, Chapman was
named the Empire 8 Men’s Lacrosse Coach of the Year.
Chapman serves on the Division III All-America selection committee.
He was chosen to coach the North Team in the 2003 North-South
Division All Star game, played in June at Sacred Heart University
in Connecticut.
Chapman resides in Elmira, NY with his wife Nicole and son
Payton.
Jeffrey Rurey enters his second year at Elmira College as the
Assistant Varsity Men’s Lacrosse Coach and Head Junior
Varsity Men’s Lacrosse Coach.
Prior to Elmira, Rurey was a four year player at Division I
Binghamton University in the America East Conference from
2007-2010. During his time at Binghamton, Rurey was a standout
performer on field, and was elected team captain in 2010. Rurey
also received the team leadership and most improved player awards
at the conclusion of his final year with the team.
Rurey graduated in May of 2010 with a B.S. in Management with a
concentration in Marketing. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Pi, the
Society of Leadership and Success, and Chi Alpha Sigma, the
National Collegiate Athlete Honor Society.
He was also a member of the America East All-Academic Team for
Men’s Lacrosse and the Commissioners Honor Roll for the
America East in 2008 and 2010. In May of 2010, Rurey was awarded
the ECAC Merit Medal, an honor given to the top five Cumulative
GPA’s in the athletic department.
Rurey will be pursuing his Master’s Degree at Elmira
College.
