Bryan Mathews ’10 joins the Elmira College coaching
staff for his first season as the Assistant Men’s
Basketball Coach and the Head JV Men’s Basketball
Coach. Mathews, a 2010 graduate of Elmira College, was a three-year
captain and starter for the Soaring Eagles. He registers 10th
all-time in career assists at EC. While at Elmira, Mathews also
served as a Student Volunteer Assistant Coach for the
Men’s Junior Varsity Basketball team.
After graduation Mathews took a position as
th¬¬¬e Assistant Men’s
Basketball Coach at Keystone College. The team finished with a 21-6
record, establishing the program’s first-ever regional
ranking (as high as 5th in the Mid-Atlantic). The team garnered one
first team all-conference player and three honorable mentions.
Mathews was responsible for contributing to all player and skill
development, participating heavily in the program’s
recruitment of student-athletes, assisting in the scouting of
opponents, supervising and coordinating all academic matters for
the team (3.2 GPA), aiding with game and practice preparation, and
overseeing and designing a team strength and conditioning schedule.
As well as his duties with basketball, Mathews served as the Head
Men’s Tennis Coach. He coordinated match and practice
scheduling, managed team budget, uniform inventory, and supplies,
while directing all daily team activities.
Mathews is pursuing a Master’s degree in General
Management at Elmira College.
