EC Women’s Tennis Blanks University of Pitt-Bradford

Elmira, NY – The Elmira College Women’s
Tennis team earned their second win of the season as they defeated
non-conference opponent University of Pitt-Bradford. The Soaring
Eagles dominated the match from the start as they won 24 of 25
possible games in the doubles matches.
Elmira had a total of five double winners on the day.
Rebecca Kingman ’11 picked up two wins
today as she won at first doubles 8-0 with partner
Alia Pyros ’10, and then won 6-1, 6-0
at first singles. This is the second time she has been a double
winner on the season.
Pyros picked up a singles win at third singles by
the score of 6-1, 6-1.
The duo of
Alex Putney ’12 and
Briana Palmiero ’12 picked up their
second straight victory at second doubles as they won in decisive
fashion 8-0.
Putney picked up a win at second singles as well
by the score of 7-5, 6-4.
Palmiero also won her singles match at the fourth
spot 6-1, 6-0.
Newcomers
Elyse Colby ’12 and
Clare Lowery ’13 picked up a win at
third doubles by the score of 8-1.
Colby was another double winner in
today’s match. She took her match at fifth singles by
the score of 7-5, 6-4. At sixth singles, fourth year player
Desiree Calderella ’10 won with ease
6-0, 6-0.
Today’s win gives Elmira an overall record of 2-6. The
Soaring Eagles will look to go for win number three as they take on
SUNY Brockport on Tuesday, September 29th at 4 p.m. in Brockport,
NY.
