Elmira’s Strong Play Not Enough Against SUNY Oneonta

Elmira, NY – The Elmira College Soaring Eagles Women’s Tennis team dropped a close match against SUNY Oneonta. Despite a 9-0 final score, Elmira pushed their opponents to their limits.

At first singles Rebecca Kingman ’11 played a phenomenal match but came up short by a break of serve in each set losing 6-3. 7-5. Kingman led in the second set but could not close out a tough opponent.

Alia Pyros ’10 played a competitive match at third singles losing 7-5, 6-1. Pyros led late in the first set but could not hold on long enough to win. At fourth singles Briana Palmiero ’12 fought hard to make her match close. After dropping the first set 6-1, Palmiero fought back from a 3-0 deficit in the second set before falling 6-4.

Elmira will look to bounce back from today’s loss on Sunday, September 20th at 1:00 p.m. at the Murray Athletics Center.
