Elmira College Soars Past The Storm

September 5th, 2009
Elmira, NY – The Elmira College Women’s Soccer Team entered Campus Field Saturday afternoon for the first time in the ’09 season and came out 2-1 winners over Keuka College. The Soaring Eagles came out as the aggressors in the first half by scoring the first two goals of the contest. Keuka College, however, came alive in the second half, firing 9 shots, but the 2-0 deficit was too large to overcome.

Appearing in her first collegiate game, Rachael Bromson ’13 (Suffield, CT -- Suffield) sparked the Soaring Eagles offense and scored the opening goal in the thirty first minute of play off of a Danielle Corjulo ’11 (Southington, CT -- Southington) assist.

Kaitlin Borrelli ’10 (New Canaan, CT -- New Canaan) put the ball in the back of the net in the forty ninth minute to put EC up 2-0 in the second half. Assisting on the score was Bromson.

Also starring for the Soaring Eagles, Goalie Karissa Wilson ’12 (Londonderry, NH -- Londonderry) logged 82 minutes in net and produced 4 saves.

Megan Lowe ’13 (Leroy, NY -- Leroy), Kelsey Kiel ’13 (Bryn Athyn, PA -- Academy of the New Church), Tori Simeone ’13 (Newton, NJ -- Kittatinny Regional), Carlye Bianco ’13 (Eatontown, NJ -- Monmouth Regional), Ellie Hamilton ’13 (Victor, NY -- Victor), Kristyn O’Rourke ’13 (Beaver Dams, NY -- Corning East), Alexis Moody ’13 (Naugatuck, CT -- Naugatuck), and Caitlin Eno ’13 (Attleboro, MA -- Attleboro) all saw their first collegiate soccer action Saturday afternoon.

For the Storm, Alyssa Hermenet tallied an unassisted goal in the eighty third minute, and Goalie Ashley Vail recorded 4 saves.

The Soaring Eagles look for more success against SUNY Geneseo next Wednesday, September 9th, at 4:00p.m.
