POTSDAM, NY - The Elmira College Men’s Lacrosse team
faced another tough challenge in the Bears of SUNY Potsdam Saturday
afternoon. The Soaring Eagles who entered the game after dropping a
10-12 decision to the previously undefeated St. John
Fisher Cardinals on Wednesday looked to take a win from the
non-conference opponent in hopes to get back on the winning track.
Unfortunately that was effort did come to fruition with Potsdam
sneaking out a 7-6 decision dropping Elmira College’s
record to 1-6 on the year, and improving the Bears record to 2-0.
In one of the better defensive performances, the Soaring Eagles
limited the Bears offensive opportunities throughout the course of
the afternoon. Goalie
Geoffrey Lane ’10 (Pennington, NJ -- Pennington
School) had one of his best performances this season
recording well over 20 saves on the day.
Leading the Purple and Gold offensively was
Dan Frost ’10 (Bow, NH -- Bow) who in
just two games has scored a total of 5 goals with 2 assists.
Mike Bialick ’10 (Lebanon, NJ --
Westfield) also contributed to the offensive showing of
Elmira scoring a goal of his own.
Sean Slater ’08 (Ashland, MA --
Ashland),
Mike Szpiech ’08 (Hamilton, ONT -- Albany
Academy), and
JP Kennedy ’10 (Newport, RI -- Providence
Country Day) each found the back of the Bears cage once as
well.
Martin O’Brien ’11 (West
Springfield, MA -- Winchendon School) recorded a pair of
assists in the contest, as EC will now look ahead to their next
match-up which will take place March 26th at RIT in an Empire 8
Conference game. That game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. in
Rochester, NY.
