
WILLIAMSPORT, PA - Lycoming’s men’s
lacrosse team (2-3) defeated Elmira College (1-3) by a score of
14-8 on Tuesday afternoon at Shangraw Athletic Complex.
Lycoming’s Dan Cannon led all scorers with four goals,
while Jim Cusick netted three goals and added two assists.
Lycoming jumped out to a 4-0 lead by 10:45 in the first period on
quick goals by Andrew Stoner, Cannon, Jeff DeLong and Ed Williams.
From that point, there was no looking back as Brad
Schaeffer and Cusick scored before the opening quarter
ended.
Cusick scored again 18 seconds into the second period before
Elmira’s
Dan Frost '10 (Bow, NH -- Bow) found the net at

Mike Szpiech '08 (Hamilton, ONT -- Albany Academy)
and
Mike Bialick '10 (Lebanon, NJ -- Westfield) scored
before halftime, but Lyco’s Shea Conway also netted a
goal to make the tally 8-3 at the break.
Cannon notched the Warriors’ only third quarter goal at
12:35, as Elmira cut into Lycoming’s lead with
four-straight scores by
Frost,
Ian Morgan-Janes '10 (South Berwick, ME --
Marshwood),
Szpiech and
Bialick before the end of the third period.
With the Soaring Eagles within two, Lycoming reeled off three
consecutive goals by Cusick, Cannon and Ricky DeNenno, the last
coming with 10:01 remaining in the game to re-establish a
comfortable difference.
Brandon Brennan '08 (Manassas, VA -- Osbourn Park)
scored for Elmira before DeNenno took his second straight assist
from Cusick to score at 3:23 and then Cannon scored unassisted with
2:36 remaining.
Men's Lacrosse returns to action this Saturday when they face
No. 15 Nazareth College in their first Empire 8 conference game of
the season at Corning East Memorial Stadium in Corning,
NY. Face-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
