ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira College Women’s Tennis team
suffered their third conference loss of the season this afternoon,
falling to the Cardinals of St. John Fisher College by a score of
7-2.
In doubles action, the Soaring Eagles pushed the Cardinals and came
out with one point from play. Earning the teams lone doubles point
in a crucial tiebreaker were the tandem of
Kim Kellet ’09 (Binghamton, NY -- Chenango
Valley), and

Cazenovia) won their decision by a score of 9-8.
In singles play, the enthusiasm and tenacity shown in their earlier
doubles matches was carried over into their single matches.
Unfortunately, the depth of the Cardinal’s line up
proved to be too much. At the No. 4 spot
Torrie Robinson-Neff '10 (Gloucester, MA --
Gloucester), continued her winning ways by capturing her
team leading third conference singles match in a row earning the
teams lone singles point in a three sets victory, 4-6, 6-3, 10-7.
In at the No. 5 position,
Dani Oaxaca ’09 (Rancho Cucamonga, CA -- Rancho
Cucamonga), was defeated in a tough three set battle, 6-3,
0-6, 6-10.
As a whole the team came into today’s match with the
focus and determination to rise to the top ranks of the Empire 8.
The team should confidence and through out the match against a
quality opponent.
The Soaring Eagle netters return home to the Murray Athletic center
to face non conference opponent Keuka College on Monday, September
17th at 4 p.m.
