Field Hockey Falls to University of Rochester in Home Opener

September 8th, 2007
ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira College field hockey team fell to the University of Rochester Yellowjackets by a score of 5-1 in Saturday’s non-conference contest.

Despite tremendous efforts on both the offensive and defensive ends, the Soaring Eagles recorded their only point in the second half. The unassisted goal, scored by Jennifer Heydt ’10 (Leesport, PA -- Schuylkill Valley), was earned just ten minutes into the period, and marked Heydt’s first goal of the season.

Jalene McCulloch ’10 (Belleville, ONT – Millbrook) was a tenacious force on the defensive end for the Purple and Gold. The second year goalie recorded an exceptional 32 saves in the contest as EC’s record drops to 1-1.

The Soaring Eagles will return to the Murray Athletic Center this Tuesday, September 11th as they face Houghton College at 4 p.m. in a non-conference match-up.
