Jump to a Soaring Eagles Team:

RIT to Much For Men's Basketball

January 21st, 2007
Elmira, NY - In tonight's second game of the conference double-header the Soaring Eagles fell to the Tigers of RIT by the score of 70-82.

Tonight's game started off very quick with both teams making back to back three point baskets. This would be the only time that the Soaring Eagles would tie the Tigers despite late attempts in the first and second half. RIT took a six point lead at the 16:42 mark, only to have it cut in half by Joe Prunier '07 who made his first of three, three point baskets in the game. With a made jump shot from Jon Adamson '10 the Soaring Eagles would hold RIT to their closest lead in the game.

Unfortunately it did not take long for the Tigers offense to start taking control of the game expanding their lead to 21 points with only nine minutes in the half. RIT would keep there double-digit lead for the rest of the first half. With EC down by 15 points it seemed very likely that the team would be able to post a come back in the second half.

Palen Andreozzi '10 who got into foul trouble early in the first half started the second half with a made field goal to close the lead down 13. Two early turnovers allowed RIT to regain a very dominate lead over the Purple and Gold. However EC would not sit back, the Soaring Eagles recorded eight consecutive points while holding the Tigers scoreless for two minutes. With less than ten minutes left in the game, EC began shooting for three pointers on every possession only to have them fall short. EC finished the second half shooting 5-for-22 from outside the arch. Jason Brown '10 who led the team in total points in the second half with 11 recorded two of EC's five three pointers.

Prunier who finished tonight's game with 11 points and 7 rebounds, was 4-for-11 from the paint and 3-for-7 from three point range.

The Soaring Eagles will now take on Nazareth College tomorrow at 4 p.m. in their second conference game of the weekend.
