Women's Basketball Wins EC Hilton Garden Inn Holiday Tournament Championship

Elmira, NY - The Soaring Eagles women's basketball team earned their second tournament championship of the season today when they defeated the Bengals of Buffalo State College by the score of 83-66.

Leading the way for the Eagles was All-Tournament selection Mary Symonds '09 who put up 20 points today with 3 assists and 8 rebounds.  This is the second time this season that Symonds has been named to the All-tournament team.  Co-captain Courtney Troutman '08 tallied 17 points with 6 rebounds and 5 assists and was named the Tournament MVP.  Second year player Marcia Coakley '09 finished with 14 points and led the team in steals with 6.  Brittany Morse '09 came off the bench and recorded 10 points for the Purple and Gold.  This is the first time this season that Morse has recorded double digits in points.  Bridget Catanese '08 was second on the team in rebounds with 7 (4 offensive 3 defensive). 

EC will not compete in a game until January 3, 2007 when they head to South Vermont College.  Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
