Elmira College and Buffalo State Advance to Championship Game of Hilton Garden Inn Tournament

Elmira, NY - Host school Elmira College will face Buffalo State
College tomorrow in the championship game of the EC Hilton Garden
Inn Holiday Tournament. Tomorrow's game is scheduled
for 4 p.m. Lycoming College and Penn. College of Tech
will face off at 2 p.m. in the Consolation game.
In tonight's first game the Bengals of Buffalo State faced the
Warriors of Lycoming. Buffalo defeated Lycoming by the
score of 57-53. Lycoming led the Bengals for most of
the game until the final 5 minutes when Buffalo State took the
lead. Leading the Bengals offense was
Jacey Brooks '07 and
Darnika Moseley '07. Each of them
recorded 12 points.
Brooks was 4-9 from the floor, 2-4 from three
point range, and 2-4 from the free throw line.
Moseley pulled down 11 rebounds tonight (6
offensive, 5 defensive).
Shareese Hamer '09 scored 7 points and
had 4 boards for the Bengals.
Lycoming's
Rebecca Leid '10 led the Warriors in
total points with 15. Leid was 6-11 from field goal
range, 2-3 from outside the arch, and 1-2 from the
line. She also pulled down 5 rebounds.
Jessica Zerbee '10 was second on the
team in total points with 12, shooting 5-11 from the floor, 1-5
from three point range, and 1-2 from the free throw
line. She also recorded 6 assits in tonight's
game.
Zerbee and
Andrea Cooper '09 led the team in total rebounds,
each tallying 6.
Cooper was also third on the team in scoring with
11 points.
In tonight's second game the Soaring Eagles defeated the
Wildcats of Penn College by the score of 87-49. This
will be EC's third time this season reaching the championship game
of a college tournament.
Fourth year forward
Rachel Bliss '07 came off the bench for
the Soaring Eagles and led the team in scoring with 14
points.
Bliss was 5-9 from the floor and 4-4 from the
line.
Bliss also tallied 6 rebounds (2 offesnive 4
defensive). Co-Captain
Kourtney Troutman '08 was second on the
team with 11 points.
Troutman recorded 2 assists
and 2 steals as well. Tonight
was only the second time that
Mary Symonds '09 did not record double
digits in total points.
Symonds completed tonight's game with 9 points, 6
boards, and 2 assists. First year
center
Megan Adams '10 led the Soaring Eagles in total
rebounds earning 10 boards tonight.
Adams also recorded 5 points shooting 2-4
from field goal range and 1-2 from the
line.
Penn College's
Meagan Morris '10 was responsible
for 22 of the 49 Wildcat points tonight.
Morris shot 6-10 from outside the arch and 8-17
from the floor.
Amanda Ault '09 led the team
in rebounds pulling down 14 (6 offensive 8
defensive).
Emily Beiter '10 was second on the team in scoring
with 9 points.
Tomorrow's schedule is as follows: Penn College of
Tech will face Lycoming College at 2 p.m. in the Consolation game
followed by EC facing off against Buffalo
State in the Championship game at 4 p.m. All
of the games tomorrow will be played in Speidel
Gymnasium.
