Men's Basketball Drops First Game of the Season to Penn State Behrend

Erie, PA - In their first contest of the 2006 season the Soaring
Eagles men's basketball team was defeated by the Lions of Penn
State Behred in the first round of the Penn State Behrend
tournament. The end of the first half had EC
only trailing the Lion's by 2 (27-29). Penn
State would score a total of 36 points in the second half to give
them the 50-65 win over EC. The Soaring
Eagles scored 23 points in the second half.
Leading EC tonight was first
year transfer
Derek Shaw '08 who recorded 7 points in
tonight's non-conference game.
Shaw was 3-7 from the floor and was 1-3 in three
point baskets. Fourth year forward
Matt Keating '07 recorded 6 points tonight and
pulled down 5 rebounds for the Purple and Gold. First
year player
Palen Andreozzi '10 tallied 6 points
tonight. Joe Prunier '07 was 1-7 in field goals, 1-5 in
three pointers, and was 2-2 in free
throws.
Penn State Behrend's
Kevin Buczynski '08 led the Lions in
tonights game recording a total of 28 points.
Buczynski was 9-17 from the floor and was 10-12
from the line. He also led the team in rebounds with
12.
Tom Newman '09 was second on the team in scoring
tonight tallying a total of 13 points.
EC will look to bounce back from tonight's loss when they face
D'Youville tomorrow in the consolation game of the Penn
State Behrend tournament. Game time is scheduled for 1
p.m.
