Women's Soccer Earns First Win Of The Season Behind Ghent's Hat Trick

Elmira, NY - The Elmira College women's soccer team earned their
first win of the season today in dominating fashion over
SUNY Morrisville. The Soaring Eagles defeated the
Mustangs of SUNY Morrsiville by the score of 8-0.
Leading the team in today's match was second
year midfielder
Moira Ghent '09 who recorded her first career hat
trick.
Ghent's goals were the first three
goals of the match. All of
Ghent's goals came in the first 7 minutes of the
match.
Ghent's second goal of the match was assisted by
Jessica Talbot '08. Her final goal of
the match was assisted by
Laurie Teske
'08.
Talbot would add to the Soaring Eagle's lead at
the 9th minute mark of the first half giving
Talbot her first goal of the
season.
Teske assisted
Talbot's goal, to give her, her second assist of
the match.
Kaitlin Borrelli '10 scored the fifth goal for
Elmira College in the first half at the 35 minute mark.
That goal was
Borrelli's first career goal
at EC.
Erinn Prestidge '08 would score the final goal for
Elmira College in the first half.
Prestidge would score her second goal
of the match 6 minutes into the second half off of a pass from
Megan Callahan '07.
Callahan would score a goal of her own when she
received a cross from fourth year midfielder
Rachael Sparks '07. Third
year goalkeeper
Meaghan Doherty '08 only had to come up with one
save in today's match. Total shot count for Elmira
College was 28 shots on the day.
Tallying the only shot for SUNY Morrisville was
Melissa Robb '08. Goalkeeper
Katie Tiffany '10 came up with eleven saves for
the Mustangs.
EC will take this win into Wednesday's match against conference
rival Alfred University. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at
Alfred University.
