Hartwick Gives Field Hockey First Conference Lost Of The Season

– The Elmira College field hockey team faced Hartwick
College today for the second conference match of the season.
The Soaring Eagles were defeated by the score of 3-1.
The team’s record now drops to 2-3 overall
1-1 in the Empire 8 conference.
Scoring for Elmira
Collge was second year forward
Kayla Blank ’09.
Blank’s goal came in the 21
st minute of the second half. So far this
season
Blank has recorded 8 goals and one assist this
season. Fourth year midfielder
Jackie Thomas ’07 tallied a total of 6
shots, while
Jess Zegarelli ’07 tallied 4 shots of
her own. Goalkeeper
Ann Phillips ’07 earned 10 saves in
today’s match and faced 17 shots from Hartwick.
Three different players
scored for Hartwick in today’s match. The
Hawk’s first goal came in the 28
th minute of the second half when
Jenny Knight ’07 blasted a shot by
Phillips to record the first goal of the game.
Jenev Schilling ’07 would break the
tie score at the 12
th minute when she scored on a pass from forward
Molly Joyce ’07. The
final goal for Hartwick was scored by
Samantha Galm ’10 with 2 minutes left
in the match. Goalkeeper
Emily McLean '09 recorded 15 saves and
faced a total of 17 shots from EC.
Elmira College will head
to William Smith on Friday September 29
th for an Empire 8 conference match. Game
time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
