St. John Fisher's Second Overtime Goal Sinks Women's Soccer

Elmira, NY - For the second game in row this year the women's
soccer team brought the game into double overtime. It
was off of a free kick in the 107th minute of the game which gave
St. John Fisher the win over EC.
EC's
Katie Roman '10 led the team offensively recording
a total of five shots, four of which were on goal.
Behind Roman was third year midfielders
Laura Teske '08 and
Bridget Catanese '08 who also recording shots on
goal for the Purple and Gold. The game was back and
forth the entire first 90 minutes. In the first
overtime the Soaring Eagles offense were pressuring the
Cardinal's for the entire 10 minutes. Third year
goalkeeper
Meaghan Doherty '08 came up with 5 saves in
today's match and faced a total of 15 shots
from Fisher. In today's match Elmira College
tallied the most shots they have the entire season with a total of
19 shots.
Fisher's goal came in the 107th minute when
Mary Dougherty '10 scored on
a direct kick right oustide Elmira College's goal
box. Elmira College held Fisher's offense to
only 6 shots on goal the entire match. Second year
forward
Jen Springett '09 had a total of three shots on
goal, while
Dani Davis '08 and
Kelly Zeppetella '09 each had one shot on
goal. Keeper
Stacey Gable '07 earned a total of 2 saves in the
first half.
Ashley Martin '10 entered the match at halftime
and remained in net through both overtimes. On the day
Martin came up with a total 10
saves.
Women's Soccer will head to Utica College on Wednesday September
27th to face the Pioneers in an Empire 8 conference
match. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
