Elmira, NY - In the first day of the 2006 Elmira College
Invitational, the Women's Volleyball team defeated both Alfred
University and York College. The Soaring
Eagles defeated both teams 3 sets to
none.
The scores of the Alfred University match were 30-10, 30-11, and
30-16. Fourth year player
Jess Mezei '07 had 18 kills in the game and
recorded 14 digs.
Amanda Weaver '10 made her debut tonight for the
Purple and Gold tallying 39 assists.
Jackie Clark '07 had 15
kills against Alfred.
Clark's younger sister
Susan Clark '09 had a total of 16
digs in the game.
Janice Embury '10 had 4 kills and 11
digs as well.
In the second match of the day EC
dominated the Cardinals in three straight
games. EC defeated York by the scores of
30-11, 30-14, and 30-13.
Mezei had another impressive
game offensively for the Purple and Gold recording a
total of 20 kills, while
Weaver put up a total of 28
assists.
Jackie Clark '07 had another strong performance
scoring 9 kills in the game.
With these two wins today Head Coach
Rhonda Faunce is now one win away
from her 400th career win.
The Soaring Eagles face Hamilton College in their third match of
the tournament. Game time is scheduled for 12:30
p.m.
