Laura Bolan ’11
Political Science, Minor in Sociology
Laura took advantage of the Elmira College Term III Study Abroad, a decision that changed her life. “I traveled to South Africa to study Apartheid with Dr. Martha Easton and had an amazing three weeks! This trip was what made me look into HIV and AIDS and started my investigation into the field of public health.”
Laura is a graduate student at the School of Public Health at the University of Albany. She is interested in maternal, child, and reproductive health, hoping to educate individuals and communities regarding health issues and disease prevention. “The Elmira College internship requirement allowed me to find internships in public health, which put me ahead of other students applying for graduate school who (did not) have such experience.”
