Alumni Reconnect at Elmira College Reunion

July 28th, 2008
Elmira College recently held its one hundred forty-eighth Reunion as alumni from classes spanning nine decades returned to campus to reconnect with each other, share their experiences with current students, and discover how much has changed and how much has remained the same.

Alumna Honored
The weekend featured a lecture by Distinguished Achievement Award winner Patricia Norton ’68 . During her extensive career, Pat has been a producer for the British Broadcasting Corporation in England, Director of Communications and Sponsor Relations for the LPGA, and the first Public Relations Director for The New York Times Magazine Group. Pat established Norton Communications in 1992 as a golf public relations and events firm.  Her international clients have included Fortune Magazine, the NASDAQ Stock Market, the Gary Player Group, the National Golf Coaches Association, Senior Golfer magazine, Golf for Women magazine, Purchase Golf Club, and the Arnie’s Army Battles Prostate Cancer Initiative with Golf Digest.

Banquet Still a Highlight
In addition to class dinners, the Parade of Classes, a golf outing, and a memorial service for deceased classmates, one of the highlights of the weekend came at the Saturday evening banquet when current students and alumni join to sing traditional College songs, bridging the gap between Elmira College’s past and its bright future.
