English as a Second Language (ESL) Program
Mission Statement

As its mission, the English as a Second Language (ESL) program at Elmira College offers excellent language learning opportunities for non-native speakers of English to develop their academic English language skills. The program fosters a positive cultural experience while preparing students for their studies at Elmira College. The program also promotes student leadership by encouraging students’ integration into the Elmira College community via active participation in campus life within and beyond the classroom. In accordance with Elmira College’s student-centered policy, the ESL program provides a comfortable environment in which students may express concerns regarding their stay at Elmira College. Moreover, the program immediately works to help students solve problems that might arise.

As its mission, the English as a Second Language (ESL) Summer Program provides international college-bound and high school students with high quality English language classes and an introduction to the Elmira College community and surrounding region, college life in the United States, and North American culture.
