International Application Process
International students who wish to apply for admission to Elmira
College may request application materials from the College or
print
(pdf) an application that can be completed and mailed. You may
apply online using the
Common Application. The Common
Application is preferred by most applicants. International students
may not apply under the Early Decision program.

A completed application contains the application itself, an
official academic transcript of secondary school work, two
recommendations, and an essay. Applicants whose native language is
not English must submit official TOEFL results, or the
equivalent. The minimum desired TOEFL score for
admission to the College is 525 paper based, 197 computer based, or
71 internet based test. Applicants with lower scores
will be placed into the Elmira College English as a Second Language
(ESL) Program. All students will be given English placement exams
to determine which, if any, English language classes they will need
to take in order to succeed at Elmira College. While SAT I test
scores are not required of international applicants, they should be
submitted if they are available. Applicants who have attended
university must submit official transcripts of all post secondary
academic work.

International students who intend to apply for financial
assistance from Elmira College must submit the
International
Student Financial Aid Application (pdf) directly to Elmira
College. This form is also available from the College Scholarship
Service of the College Board or from Elmira College. A limited
amount of financial assistance based on financial need is available
from Elmira College. International students should not assume that
all costs will be met with financial aid.
All international students must complete the
Foreign
Student Financial Statement (pdf). Bank statements should be
included if savings are to be used to fund any part of the costs.
If you are unable to access either form online, then email
admissions@elmira.edu with
your name and full mailing address.
The deadline for applications for admission and financial
aid for international students is June 1 for September
enrollment, and October 1 for January enrollment.
Completed international student applications are reviewed on a
rolling basis beginning in January. Applicants are notified of
decisions by electronic mail. Those who are accepted receive
hardcopy acceptance letters and other necessary information by mail
or courier as appropriate.
