Visual Arts (Art Education – All Grades)
Elmira College’s Visual Arts (Art Education) certification program is designed for candidates who wish to teach art theories and concepts to diverse learners in elementary, middle, or secondary school classrooms. Candidates enrolled in this program acquire strong content knowledge in both art history and areas such as drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, and printmaking. Through clinically enriched teaching and learning experiences during their Teacher Education (pedagogical core) courses, candidates use their content knowledge to develop and deliver compelling lessons, assess student learning, and reflect on their professional growth and practice.
Upon completion of program requirements and New York teacher certification exams, candidates are eligible for institutional recommendation for New York State initial teaching certification in Visual Arts: All Grades.
