American Studies
Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science
American Studies is an interdisciplinary major
focusing on the nature and character of American life and culture
as a whole. Students in the major study significant works that
express the American experience; learn the key assumptions and
methods characteristic of a variety of liberal arts disciplines;
develop their capacity for integrative analysis, critical thinking,
and clear communication; and gain greater knowledge about
themselves through a better understanding of their own
culture.
In addition to the required number of credits
needed to complete the major, all students must also fulfill the
general degree requirements in order to graduate.
