Le Vent du Nord
Le Vent du Nord, “the wind of the
north,” has exploded onto the music scene since its
inception in 2002 . They have received several prestigious awards,
including a Canadian JUNO for
Best Traditional Album, named
Show of the Year by the American radio-concert series
Bound for Glory, and nominated for an OPUS award. The group
also appeared on the top ten charts of radio stations; on
CIBL Montréal and on
BBC3, in the UK. The group consists of
singers-multi-instrumentalists Nicolas Boulerice, Simon Beaudry,
Olivier Demers, and Réjean Brunet. Featured
next to the Chieftains on CBC television, they have also performed
on the BBC in, and in the Les Grands Concerts Radio-France in
Paris. With its, spirited step dancing and centuries-old songs, the
musical heritage of Québec is among the richest and most
engaging on earth. These young keepers of Québec's
400-year-old musical heritage are, hands down, the finest
traditional Québécois ensemble performing
today.
