This one week Race Engineering Camp (Sunday, August 3 – Saturday, August 9), is a residential program for high school students who have completed their freshman, sophomore, or junior year in high school. The program blends academic rigor and student life with hands-on interactive activities, both inside and outside the classroom, to make it a simulated college experience for attendees.
Educational research indicates that students need relevant problem-solving experiences to demonstrate how science and math are used in the real world. The Student Racing Challenge is not just about building cars and making them go fast. It is about building a team, learning how to collaborate and write press releases, design graphics for the team’s website and seek financial sponsors for their car. While the job responsibilities will be delegated, each person is integral to the success of the program. The Student Racing Challenge inspires students to become interested in the science and math behind the racecar.
Classes are taught Monday through Friday and meet for five and a half hours each day. The late afternoons and evenings are available for academic work, social, and recreational events. You will find the cost of this program to be affordable as well; it is priced at $1,250 and includes all costs except the application fee.
